| Thai massage incorporates kneading of the muscles, mobilising the joints and manipulating massage points along the "Thai 10 massage lines". Applying pressure to these lines stimulates the flow of internal energy (also known as the wind element) within the body.
Benefits The aim of Thai massage is to release toxins and waste materials from the joints, muscles and connective tissue, and stimulate internal organs by applying pressure on these specific energy points. The Treatment The treatment is carried out on the client, whilst they are fully clothed, on a thin mattress laid out on the floor. The therapist uses both their hands and feet to massage and to apply stretches to the client's body. It is recommended that the client wear loose, comfortable clothing. Thin track suit bottoms and a t shirt would be ideal. A jumper would also be fine for in case you feel a little cold (due to the period of inactivity). Thai massage generally requires using fairly firm pressure, however, all treatments can be adapted to clients' needs and preferences. Who can have Thai massage? Thai massage is suitable for the very young and the very old but in some cases it is not recommended. Contraindications include osteoporosis or very brittle bones; spinal fusions or artificial hip, knee or elbow joints; phlebitis, haemophilia or lymphatic cancer. If in any doubt please ask before booking an appointment.
